7,573 Children to Benefit from GP Care in Tipperary
Posted on October 23, 2013 by Alan Kelly
Approximately 7,573 children in County Tipperary are to benefit from
the roll-out of free GP care, which was announced in this week’s
Budget.
I am pleased to confirm that approximately 7,573 children in
Tipperary will be eligible for free GP care when it is rolled out,
based on the latest Census data. This is a historic and significant
initiative which means that local families with children aged five and
under no longer have to give a second’s thought about visiting the
doctor when their child gets sick.

Well done Daryl McCormack
Posted on October 04, 2013 by Alan Kelly
What a disgrace some people in this country are. Daryl is a fantastic young man from a great family and is 10 times better than all those ignorant clowns who engage in such behaviour. Begrudgery and ignorance is what it is. He's got a great future ahead of him & I'm looking forward to meeting him tonight at the Irish Wheelchair Fashion Show in the Ormond hotel later

Posted on October 03, 2013 by Alan Kelly
I was delighted to officially open the new €5.5 million school at the old vocational school in Nenagh. The new school is called Nenagh College and Nenagh College of Further Education. It is a fantastic school. Well done to Michael McNulty and all his staff and the Board of Management for all their work down the years. The school's facilities are state of the art and it has a really bright future. Well done to all the students today as well who participated in a great day and well organised event.I am pictured with Michael McNulty Principal Nenagh College & his good friend Cllr Virginia O'Dowd at the opening if the new school today. Michael has worked in the school for 37 years & the last 9 as Principal and without his work & dedication this new fabulous school simply wouldn't be open today.

I am encouraging local community groups to apply for National Lottery grants for projects which focus on culture, play and recreation. The funds are administered by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs, which offers a one-off grant to community groups and voluntary organisations involved in children and youth services. Money comes from the National Lottery Discretionary Fund, and involves grants of up to €15,000 for small-scale projects, with a total allocation of €500,000.

Confirmation of Recruitment of Gardai
Posted on September 26, 2013 by Alan Kelly
I am delighted with the news this morning that Minister for Justice & Equality, Alan Shatter TD, has confirmed that full training of new members of An Garda Siochana will beginning in Templemore College in 2014. This is great news for the town of Templemore, particularly businesses in the area with the extra revenue in the town as well as the potential for tourism. I have been constantly pushing for this to happen and I'm happy that the Minister for Public Expenditure has listened to me and signed off on a plan for this. The number of new recruits has yet to be confirmed but Minister Shatter has indicated that numbers of gardai must remain over 13,000.

Announcement from Dew Valley
Posted on September 17, 2013 by Alan Kelly
I welcome the announcement that Dew Valley Foods Ltd has won a contract to supply all McDonald’s Irish restaurants with bacon. This deal is thought to be worth about 3 million euros over five years. It is thought that this deal will see the firm deliver up to 9 million pieces of cooked bacon to McDonalds each year. I congratulate Dew Valley Foods Ltd on winning this contract. This is a major boost to the Irish Agriculture Section and it is further proof that the produce of Irish Farmers is indeed of top quality.
