There were 14,073 people on the Live Register in Tipperary in October, compared to 15,411 in October of last year. The Nenagh office saw a fall of 237 or 8.6% in the same period, Thurles a fall of 311 or 10.93% and Roscrea a fall of 137 or 10.26%. , Cahir saw a reduction of 86 or 7%,  Carrick on Suir saw a reduction of 127 or 7.02%, Cashel saw a reduction of 70 or 6.47%, Clonmel a reduction of 308 or 10.99% and Tipperary Town a reduction of 62 or 3.98%.

It’s encouraging to see that the numbers on the Live Register are significantly down compared to last year. These figures show the progress we are making in Tipperary in getting people off the Live Register and into work.

Unemployment does not fall without a concerted effort by government and local groups towards making it happen. Through programmes such as JobBridge, Tús and Springboard we are ensuring that jobseekers have access to training and work experience, that helps boost their job skills and their chances of gaining employment.

The economic recovery nationally is starting to flow down to local businesses and families, and this is reflected in today’s figures.

Overall however the figures are still too high, and we must maintain our focus on getting unemployment down further, and supporting local employers to create jobs in Tipperary.
