Issued : Monday 13 February, 2012

Local Minister Alan Kelly, has welcomed the recent Government launch of the Action Plan for Jobs, stating that Tipperary businesses will benefit from the strategies outlined.

“This plan is the most comprehensive jobs strategy to be created by this Government. It includes a number of specific targeted areas in order to address the difficulties small companies face accessing credit. These supports are being introduced in order to protect and nurture mid-sized, high growth indigenous companies with prospects for jobs and export growth”.

“Facilities such as mentoring by business leaders and multi-nationals, help and support for R&D and the new Micro-Enterprise and Small Business Unit in Enterprise Ireland will be invaluable for those Tipperary entrepreneurs either currently in business or considering a start-up business”, the Minister continued.

“Measures such as the Partial Loan Guarantee Scheme, The Development Capital Scheme of over €50m for companies with prospects of jobs and export growth and the new micro finance fund of €10m per year which will supply investment in small companies seeking less than €25,000 will be extremely beneficial to any SME in the county. A corporation tax exemption will be also be extended for start-up companies until 2014”.

“This Government has always stated that job creation is a huge priority and now it is putting its money where its mouth is. Targeting sectors where growth and job creation are possible is a key priority for me personally and I will give any assistance I can give to local business regarding support and grants”, concluded the Minister.
