Tipperary’s economy gets a boost today (Friday, August 29th) with the announcement of 46 new jobs created by Irish energy provider PINERGY in association with local sales management company DSM. The jobs will be formally announced today in DSM’s Tipperary office by the company CEOs, Rugby star Paul O’Connell and myself. The new jobs are in the area of sales and come as PINERGY plans expansion across Tipperary and Limerick. I WELCOME ADVANCEMENTS IN COLLECTIVE BARGAINING LEGISLATION

Posted on August 11, 2014 by Alan Kelly

I am delighted that Minister Ged Nash is working to have legislation on collective bargaining rights enacted by the end of this year. The Bill is currently being drafted with the expectation that the new legislation will be in place by the end of 2014. For employees, it will significantly enhance their ability to negotiate their working conditions. For employers, it will provide certainty in managing their workplaces in the years ahead.

Annual Fall in Live Register for Tipperary

Posted on August 05, 2014 by Alan Kelly

I welcome the further annual fall in the Live Register in July for Tipperary.

The Live Register has fallen by 8.47% in North Tipperary and 8.05% in South Tipperary, with decreases of 8.04% in Nenagh, 8.80% in Roscrea, 8.73% in Thurles.

These are encouraging figures, and show the progress we are making in reducing the numbers of unemployed people in Tipperary.

Labour Ministers have introduced schemes such as JobsPlus and Springboard that are already helping people to move out of long-term unemployment into high-quality training, education and full-time employment.

The recent ESRI report, showing that the gap between rich and poor in Ireland has actually narrowed in recent years, is proof that we have protected social welfare while helping people move into work.
