Kelly demands action on M7 over safety issues

Issued : Friday 19 January, 2018

Labour Tipperary TD Alan Kelly has called for urgent action to address safety issues on the M7 in Tipperary, following recent collisions on the motorway near Roscrea.

Deputy Kelly said:

“I am very concerned that this section of the M7 between Roscrea and Moneygall is becoming an accident blackspot, with a number of recent crashes reported there.

“Yesterday afternoon there were several collisions around the same time, which caused the motorway to be shut in both directions for a number of hours.

“I am particularly concerned about safety issues with the ramps at the junctions on and off the motorway at Roscrea and Moneygall, especially when driving conditions are poor.

“I am now calling on Transport Infrastructure Ireland, the Road Safety Authority and the Department of Transport to investigate these issues and look at the volume of incidents, and to take action to ensure these junctions are safe.”
