ECO VILLAGE MAJOR ATTRACTION FOR NORTH TIPP
Issued : Monday 8 March, 2010
Areas : Munster, Tipperary
MEP Alan Kelly visited the Eco Village in Cloughjordan last week to tour a number of exciting new projects.
Kelly said “We are blessed to have some of the best natural resources in Ireland all contained in the North Tipp region and I believe the new Eco Village project is exactly the type of scheme to offer something new.
The area of North Tipperary has the potential to offer a unique experience for tourists visiting the Munster region. We must properly promote ideas like the Eco Village to attract a greater flow of tourists to the area.”
Along with many other areas in the locality, the village has struggled to get full broadband coverage and Kelly is adamant that something must be done to achieve full broadband coverage in Tipperary.
He said “I strongly believe that broadband is fundamental to future growth throughout the region and we must remedy this issue as soon as possible. Advances in broadband have led to new enterprise and job creation in other countries and we must allow Irish entrepreneurs the same opportunity.
The Eco Village is a pioneering project in Ireland and we are lucky to have such an exciting venture in the region. ”
A new enterprise centre is planned for the Eco Village which will be located in the village centre.
MEP Kelly was taken on a tour of the new village by Pa Finucane and Greg Allen, key members of the Eco Village project.
A 30 bed hostel is also under construction to be completed in late August. It will also function as a learning centre for people who wish to come and experience the Eco Village lifestyle.
It is an exciting time in the Eco Village which now has a number of fully completed units with families in residence with more due to be completed in the coming months.
