€57 million in funding for Social Housing in County Tipperary

Posted by Alan Kelly on March 31, 2015 at 03:44 PM

I have today announced over €57 million in funding for County Tipperary that will significantly reduce the housing waiting list to 2015.

As a result, the housing list in Tipperary is set to reduce by over 40% to 2017.  The funding will see the refurbishment of 51 vacant social housing units in Tipperary this year as well as starting building projects in Gortnahoe, Cloughjordan, Templemore and Thurles.

A total of 832 housing units will be built, bought or leased in Tipperary for social housing between now and 2017.

Tipperary is going to benefit significantly from this housing investment. €57 million will be spent over the next three years. Currently my Department are in the process of assessing the housing build projects submitted by Tipperary County council and I hope to be in a position to announce those in the coming weeks,” said Minister Kelly

This will have a big impact on the local housing waiting list reducing it by over 40%. We all know the housing pressures that exist in this county and we have both plans and funding in place to tackle them now,
